Police investigating fatal car vs. pedestrian accident in Johnstown

UPDATE | Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees has identified the victim of Friday night's fatal crash on Maple Avenue. Lees said the victim is 53-year-old Joan Schellhammer of East Conemaugh Borough. According to Lees, Schellhammer was walking towards Rocky's Tavern when she was struck by a 2001 Chevy Cavalier. Lees said Schellhammer was transported to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center but was pronounced dead just after 1 a.m. Her cause of death was determined as a traumatic head injury due to blunt force trauma and her death is being ruled as accidental, and a toxicology report is pending.
