(AP) — Workers on Friday began removing a bridge over a Connecticut highway that was damaged in a fiery crash involving a gasoline tanker truck — a project expected to keep both sides of Interstate 95 closed through the weekend and extend a traffic nightmare on the major artery linking New England and New York.
Crews took down metal fencing on the span in Norwalk before two large excavators — one on each side of the highway — began demolishing the concrete sides of the structure.

Judge grants third extension in federal case against former DuBois city manager
DUBOIS, Pa (WJAC) — The federal case against former DuBois city manager Herm Suplizio has been delayed another month.
Suplizio’s legal troubles began a year ago with his arrest on state charges for fraud and theft of public monies. Those were later withdrawn so the federal cases could play out.
Pre-trial motions were due this week, but Suplizio’s defense team asked for a third extension.

Penelec investigating hours-long power outage in Ebensburg, Cambria Twp.
UPDATE:CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Thousands of residents in Ebensburg Borough and Cambria Township were without power Friday after an hours-long outage.
Penelec says most of the power was restored Friday evening and the cause of the outage is still being investigated, but according to their website, the outage was believed to be caused by the ice storm that rolled through the area.
Cambria County EMA director Art Martynuska told 6 News Friday afternoon that officials were making preparations to open warming shelters in case the outage continued into the night.

Student found with Airsoft BB gun at school now facing charges, police say
INDIANA, Pa. (WJAC) — According to a press release from Pennsylvania State Police, a student at the Homer-Center School District is facing charges after bringing an unloaded Airsoft BB gun to school Friday morning.
Troopers say they responded to a report by the school district administration that a 13-year-old student was found in possession of an unloaded Airsoft pistol with an orange tip.
A subsequent investigation revealed the student had concealed the Airsoft BB gun in his backpack and shown it to at least one other student at school, troopers said.

Lamon Wiggins, 18, attended Withrow High School.
Lamon's family said he just attended prom a little more than a week ago and graduated on Friday night. Like many high school graduates, he went to celebrate with some friends, but his family said what happened next was completely unexpected.
