Cameron Co. Fair scheduled to begin Monday

The Cameron County Fair is officially kicking off this Monday in Emporium.

It will begin with a tractor-trailer parade through downtown at 5 p.m., followed by the opening ceremony at the fairgrounds at 6 p.m.

There will be live music and other activities for families to enjoy.

Organizers say opening night will be "emergency volunteer appreciation night."

India train crash kills over 280, injures 900 in one of nation's worst rail disasters

Local group organizes St. Patrick's Day pool tournament for special needs individuals

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — A pool tournament, hosted by a group that works with people with special needs, was held Sunday in Cambria County. The tournament was held at Mully's Billiards, located along Scalp Avenue in Johnstown, and was hosted by the organization Crossroads to Independence. Competitors were dressed in green for Saint Patrick’s Day as they moved from table to table for a skills competition. Man sentenced up to 7 years in prison after death of Westmont woman

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Marcus Taczanowsky was sentenced Tuesday to 39-84 months in prison for involuntary manslaughter and simple assault related charges after the death of Jessie Gordon. The prosecution asked for consecutive sentences. Taczanowsky pleaded guilty in January to multiple charges. He will also have to pay $3,500 in fees. Gordon was found unresponsive in her Westmont home in November 2017. The 34-year old-old was taken to the hospital and remained on life support for about a week before she died. [Read More]

Wal-Mart adding winery to Richland Township store

CURWENSVILLE - A Clearfield County winery that's teamed up with a retail giant will soon be making its way to Cambria County. Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery will be opening a store inside Wal-Mart in Johnstown, Richland Township. Owner Kenn Starr said he learned the art of making wine by his father's side in 1952. Organizers of the Pennsylvania Lumberjack Championships said the event is the largest competition of its kind in the state.
