Man sentenced to 4 years for criminal negligence in deaths of 34 aboard scuba boat

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A federal judge on Thursday sentenced a scuba dive boat captain to four years in prison and three years supervised release for criminal negligence after 34 people died in a fire aboard the vessel. The Sept. 2, 2019, blaze was the deadliest maritime disaster in recent U.S. history, and prompted changes to maritime regulations, congressional reform and several ongoing lawsuits. Part of PA Turnpike to close temporarily Sat. night

BREEZEWOOD, Pa. (WJAC) — Officials with the Pennsylvania Turnpike said part of the roadway will be closed Saturday night into Sunday morning. They said the eastbound lanes will close at 11 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday between the New Stanton and Breezewood exits. PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh Penguins CEO David Morehouse stepped down Wednesday, ending a 16-year run with the franchise that included three Stanley Cup titles. Fight at Philadelphia train station ends with man being fatally struck by train

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A man involved in a fight at a Philadelphia train station was killed when he fell onto the tracks and was struck by a train, authorities said. The fight at the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority station occurred around 4:30 p.m. Thursday when Chaz Wearing, 40, and another man began arguing. The dispute soon turned physical and Wearing punched the other man twice, city police said.
